Michael Morgan is a veteran photographer, internationally published photojournalist, and founder of Mayhem Studios NY, with more than 30 years behind the camera spanning fashion, editorial, fine art, news, film, television, and documentary photography.
His photography has appeared in publications and editorial markets ranging from mainstream fashion titles such as Vogue, British Vogue, ELLE, GQ, Harper’s Bazaar, and Cosmopolitan to men’s and alternative publications including Maxim, FHM, Stuff, Marquis, Skin Two, and other fine-art, alternative, fetish, and artistic-nude publications.
His career reflects a willingness to photograph everything from high fashion and commercial beauty to provocative alternative imagery and documentary storytelling.
Michael has also received national recognition for journalistic work addressing homelessness, LGBTQ+ issues, veterans, and criminal justice, using photography and journalism to document communities and stories often overlooked by mainstream media.
After a 2½-year hiatus, Michael relaunched Mayhem Studios in 2026 with a simple philosophy: don’t recreate the past—create something better.

CAROLINE POLKAVICH Photographer & Part-Time Photo Assistant — Mayhem Studios Tough, direct, creative, and proudly tomboy, Caroline Polkavich brings more than 10 years of photography and production experience to the Mayhem Studios team. A photographer in her own right, Caroline has a particular interest in documenting LGBTQ+ people, culture, identity, and issues through her work. Her photography reflects the same straightforward personality she brings to a set—authentic, observant, and never afraid to tackle subjects outside the mainstream. Caroline is also the person you want around when a supposedly “simple shoot” stops being simple. Difficult location? Complicated setup? Tight schedule? Unexpected problem? That’s when Caroline earns her keep. Her ability to stay focused, speak up, and help find a solution makes challenging shoots considerably more manageable. Her experience extends beyond still photography into television production, giving her an understanding of what happens both in front of and behind the camera. At Mayhem, Caroline works as a part-time Photo Assistant, filling in when needed or teaming up with fellow assistant Lilly Cosme on larger productions where an extra set of experienced hands can make all the difference. Being one of the more seasoned members of the Mayhem team gives her something particularly valuable: experience, perspective, and the confidence to recognize potential that others might overlook. And Elizabeth doesn’t simply wait for talent to find Mayhem—she goes looking for it. From models and performers to photographers, makeup artists, stylists, and unconventional personalities, Elizabeth helps seek out new faces and creative people who could bring something different to the studio. She also assists with recruiting, introductions, bookings, and connecting the right people with Mayhem projects and opportunities. Her own journey gives Elizabeth a particular appreciation for LGBTQ+ and transgender talent, older talent, newcomers, and people who don’t necessarily fit traditional agency molds—while her recruiting work is open to talent of every background and style. NATALIIA SKULSKA Fashion Designer & Creative Collaborator — Mayhem Studios NY Originally from Ukraine and now based in Brooklyn, New York, Nataliia Skulska brings European influence, entrepreneurial drive, and an unmistakably individual sense of style to the creative world of Mayhem Studios. A talented fashion designer and founder of DaNa Fashions, Nataliia creates distinctive garments with a particular talent for corsetry, dresses, statement pieces, and designs that celebrate femininity while refusing to disappear into the crowd. Nataliia’s relationship with Mayhem goes beyond simply providing clothing for a photograph. She collaborates on concepts, styling, fashion shoots, model development, and original creative projects—bringing the designer’s perspective into the process from the beginning. Her background also extends beyond fashion. With previous professional experience in finance in Ukraine, Nataliia combines creativity with a practical understanding of business—although at Mayhem we occasionally have to remind everyone that spreadsheets and corsets generally require very different tools. As Mayhem Studios builds its new roster for Fall 2026 and beyond, Nataliia represents an important part of that philosophy: bringing together designers, photographers, models, makeup artists, and other independent creatives instead of treating them as separate worlds. Her Ukrainian roots, Brooklyn energy, and willingness to experiment make her a natural fit for a studio built around one simple idea: Don’t be ordinary just because ordinary is easier. Nous les voyons, mais nous ne les voyons pas vraiment. Parmi eux, des milliers d'anciens combattants américains – des individus qui ont jadis répondu à l'appel du devoir, qui ont tout risqué et qui ont porté le poids de notre nation sur leurs épaules. Pourtant, aujourd'hui, beaucoup d'entre eux ne portent plus qu'un sac à dos, une pancarte en carton et des souvenirs qui les empêchent de dormir. Le silence qui entoure leur sacrifice. Pendant des années, j'ai travaillé avec des vétérans à New York – écoutant leurs histoires, les accompagnant dans leur réinsertion et constatant de visu combien d'entre eux tombent entre les mailles d'un système qui avait promis de les protéger. Ce que j'ai vu est déchirant. Certains souffrent de stress post-traumatique non traité. D'autres luttent contre la dépendance. D'autres encore n'ont tout simplement plus d'options. Mais presque tous partagent un sentiment d'invisibilité – la conviction qu'ils ont été utiles, applaudis, honorés… puis abandonnés. Cette réalité n'est pas une simple statistique ; C'est une blessure. Une blessure nationale. Pourquoi cette série existe-t-elle ? Cette série photographique a été créée dans un seul but : redonner voix, dignité et visibilité aux vétérans que l'Amérique a oubliés. À travers des images brutes, des rencontres authentiques dans la rue et des conversations sincères, ces portraits capturent bien plus que le sans-abrisme : ils capturent l'humanité, la douleur, la résilience et la vérité que nous avons tendance à ignorer. Ces hommes et ces femmes se sont engagés en première ligne pour notre pays. Alors pourquoi dorment-ils aujourd'hui sur les marches des gares ? Ils se sont engagés. Ils ont veillé pendant que nous dormions. Ils ont porté des fardeaux que la plupart des Américains ne comprendront jamais. Et pourtant, aujourd'hui, ils brandissent des pancartes qui implorent : « Vétéran. Affamé. Aidez-moi, s'il vous plaît. » Comment avons-nous pu en arriver là ? Nous ne les avons pas seulement perdus de vue, nous les avons abandonnés. Cette série met en lumière une douloureuse réalité : les États-Unis n'ont pas simplement failli à leur devoir envers leurs vétérans. Nous les avons abandonnés. Nous les avons acclamés lors de leur déploiement, remerciés à leur retour, puis nous les avons laissés se débrouiller seuls face aux traumatismes, à la bureaucratie, à la pauvreté et à l'isolement. Ce projet refuse de se taire face à cet abandon. Chaque photographie est un miroir tendu à notre société. Chaque image pose une question à laquelle nous devons tous répondre : s’ils étaient prêts à mourir pour nous, comment pouvons-nous ne pas être prêts à nous battre pour eux ? La photographie engagée a le pouvoir de bousculer l’indifférence. Elle peut susciter l’indignation, la compassion et l’action. J’espère que cette série deviendra un catalyseur, non seulement pour la prise de conscience, mais aussi pour le changement. Je veux que les gens voient ce que je vois. Qu’ils ressentent ce que ressentent ces vétérans. Qu’ils comprennent que derrière chaque visage se cache une histoire qui mérite d’être entendue et une vie qui mérite d’être sauvée. Le sans-abrisme chez les vétérans ne devrait pas exister. Pas dans la nation la plus puissante du monde. Pas quand ces hommes et ces femmes ont déjà fait plus que suffisamment de sacrifices. L’appel à l’action. Ce blog et cette série ne sont pas seulement de l’art ; ils sont un appel à la responsabilité. Soutenez les centres d’hébergement. Contactez vos représentants. Invisible Borders est un projet visuel audacieux et sans concession du photographe Michael Morgan (Mayhem Studios), créé pour exposer le coût humain des rafles de l'ICE et l'atteinte croissante aux droits fondamentaux des communautés immigrées. Cette série est volontairement controversée. À travers des images brutes et sans filtre, capturées en temps réel, le projet documente la peur, le déracinement et le désespoir vécus par les familles lorsque les forces de l'ordre bouleversent leur quotidien. Ces photographies ne sont ni mises en scène, ni édulcorées, ni adoucies : elles révèlent une vérité trop souvent occultée, inaudible et ignorée. Au fond, Invisible Borders ne se limite pas aux actions répressives. Il s'agit d'êtres humains : les mères protégeant leurs enfants, les travailleurs arrachés à leurs foyers, les communautés vivant dans une incertitude permanente. Il s'agit de rappeler que chaque rafle laisse une cicatrice indélébile et que chaque vie touchée mérite le respect de sa dignité. Mon intention est simple : utiliser la photographie comme outil de sensibilisation, de responsabilisation et de changement. En documentant ces moments, le projet vise à remettre en question les perceptions, à susciter l'empathie et à inciter la société à se confronter aux implications morales et juridiques de ces actions. L’espoir est que ces images suscitent le dialogue, encouragent l’engagement et incitent les décideurs à réexaminer les politiques qui façonnent – et parfois brisent – des vies. Ce travail risque de déranger. Il pourrait provoquer des émotions fortes et des conversations difficiles. Mais c’est précisément pour cela qu’il est indispensable.

The Graphic Artist (Contract) will be responsible for:
Design & Creative Execution
- Creating digital and print graphics for marketing, campaigns, and talent development
- Designing logos, promotional materials, flyers, banners, and visual branding assets
- Producing website graphics, portfolio layouts, and social media visuals
- Preparing polished, high-resolution assets for both online and print production
- Collaborating with photographer and creative director (Michael Morgan) on concept art
- Designing comp cards, model profiles, pitch decks, and casting materials
- Contributing to Project Teen Team educational materials and presentations
- Supporting special projects, editorial layouts, and merchandise concepts
- Maintaining brand consistency across all design outputs
- Managing file organization, delivery, and versioning
- Editing and preparing images, typography, and graphic elements
- Meeting deadlines for multi-stage or fast-turnaround assignments
Maquilleuse/Styliste (Contrat)
We’re looking for someone who understands the power of transformation, who can sculpt mood and story with brushes, palettes, and styling finesse. If you thrive in a fast-paced creative environment and love collaborative artistry, this position is for you.
Experience
- Minimum 2 years professional experience in makeup artistry and/or styling
- Strong portfolio showing versatility across natural, glam, editorial, and creative looks
- Experience working on photoshoots, runway, film, or commercial sets preferred
- Proficiency in modern makeup techniques: complexion work, contouring, highlighting, corrective approaches
- Ability to adapt makeup for different skin tones & lighting setups
- Basic to advanced hair styling abilities (depending on your specialty)
- Optional but valuable: wardrobe styling experience
- Reliable, punctual, organized
- Ability to perform under time constraints
- Creative, adaptable, and collaborative
- Excellent communication and strong client-friendly demeanor
On-Set Makeup & Styling
- Provide professional makeup application for models and talent
- Create looks ranging from natural/light grooming to editorial, glam, avant-garde, and character-based themes
- Assist with hair styling (basic to intermediate, depending on skill level)
- Perform touch-ups and adjustments throughout the shoot
- Ensure continuity across multiple looks or scenes
- Work directly with photographer Michael Morgan to bring visual concepts to life
- Interpret mood boards, creative briefs, and brand aesthetics
- Offer creative input when developing looks for editorial or themed shoots
- Assist with outfit selection, adjustments, steaming, and preparation
- Style models for fashion, lifestyle, and branding shoots
- Ensure wardrobe and accessories are clean, properly fitted, and camera-ready
- Maintain hygiene standards for makeup tools and products
- Manage time efficiently to meet shoot schedules
- Communicate clearly with the team regarding needs and adjustments
- Bring a positive, collaborative presence to the set

Where the funds go:
$10,000 – Cameras, lenses, lighting, editing software
$5,000 – Program costs: studio rentals, transportation, exhibition space
$3,000 – Guest instructors, mentors, workshop leaders
$2,000 – Administrative costs to sustain the program
If we don’t reach the full goal, every dollar will still go toward cameras, classes, and student resources so the program launches on schedule.
