Michael Morgan is a veteran photographer, internationally published photojournalist, and founder of Mayhem Studios NY, with more than 30 years behind the camera spanning fashion, editorial, fine art, news, film, television, and documentary photography.
His photography has appeared in publications and editorial markets ranging from mainstream fashion titles such as Vogue, British Vogue, ELLE, GQ, Harper’s Bazaar, and Cosmopolitan to men’s and alternative publications including Maxim, FHM, Stuff, Marquis, Skin Two, and other fine-art, alternative, fetish, and artistic-nude publications.
His career reflects a willingness to photograph everything from high fashion and commercial beauty to provocative alternative imagery and documentary storytelling.
Michael has also received national recognition for journalistic work addressing homelessness, LGBTQ+ issues, veterans, and criminal justice, using photography and journalism to document communities and stories often overlooked by mainstream media.
After a 2½-year hiatus, Michael relaunched Mayhem Studios in 2026 with a simple philosophy: don’t recreate the past—create something better.

CAROLINE POLKAVICH Photographer & Part-Time Photo Assistant — Mayhem Studios Tough, direct, creative, and proudly tomboy, Caroline Polkavich brings more than 10 years of photography and production experience to the Mayhem Studios team. A photographer in her own right, Caroline has a particular interest in documenting LGBTQ+ people, culture, identity, and issues through her work. Her photography reflects the same straightforward personality she brings to a set—authentic, observant, and never afraid to tackle subjects outside the mainstream. Caroline is also the person you want around when a supposedly “simple shoot” stops being simple. Difficult location? Complicated setup? Tight schedule? Unexpected problem? That’s when Caroline earns her keep. Her ability to stay focused, speak up, and help find a solution makes challenging shoots considerably more manageable. Her experience extends beyond still photography into television production, giving her an understanding of what happens both in front of and behind the camera. At Mayhem, Caroline works as a part-time Photo Assistant, filling in when needed or teaming up with fellow assistant Lilly Cosme on larger productions where an extra set of experienced hands can make all the difference. A transgender woman with years of experience working with different agencies and creative personalities, Elizabeth understands that talent doesn’t always arrive in the package the traditional fashion industry expects. Being one of the more seasoned members of the Mayhem team gives her something particularly valuable: experience, perspective, and the confidence to recognize potential that others might overlook. And Elizabeth doesn’t simply wait for talent to find Mayhem—she goes looking for it. From models and performers to photographers, makeup artists, stylists, and unconventional personalities, Elizabeth helps seek out new faces and creative people who could bring something different to the studio. She also assists with recruiting, introductions, bookings, and connecting the right people with Mayhem projects and opportunities. NATALIIA SKULSKA Fashion Designer & Creative Collaborator — Mayhem Studios NY Originally from Ukraine and now based in Brooklyn, New York, Nataliia Skulska brings European influence, entrepreneurial drive, and an unmistakably individual sense of style to the creative world of Mayhem Studios. A talented fashion designer and founder of DaNa Fashions, Nataliia creates distinctive garments with a particular talent for corsetry, dresses, statement pieces, and designs that celebrate femininity while refusing to disappear into the crowd. Nataliia’s relationship with Mayhem goes beyond simply providing clothing for a photograph. She collaborates on concepts, styling, fashion shoots, model development, and original creative projects—bringing the designer’s perspective into the process from the beginning. Her background also extends beyond fashion. With previous professional experience in finance in Ukraine, Nataliia combines creativity with a practical understanding of business—although at Mayhem we occasionally have to remind everyone that spreadsheets and corsets generally require very different tools. As Mayhem Studios builds its new roster for Fall 2026 and beyond, Nataliia represents an important part of that philosophy: bringing together designers, photographers, models, makeup artists, and other independent creatives instead of treating them as separate worlds. Her Ukrainian roots, Brooklyn energy, and willingness to experiment make her a natural fit for a studio built around one simple idea: Don’t be ordinary just because ordinary is easier. Tagtäglich gehen wir in amerikanischen Städten an Menschen vorbei, die wir kaum beachten – Männer und Frauen, die auf Bahnsteigen sitzen, unter Baugerüsten Schutz suchen oder sich unter dünnen Decken auf kaltem Beton zusammenkauern. Wir sehen sie, aber wir nehmen sie nicht wirklich wahr. Unter ihnen sind Tausende von US-Militärveteranen – Menschen, die einst dem Ruf der Pflicht folgten, alles riskierten und die Last unserer Nation auf ihren Schultern trugen. Doch heute tragen viele von ihnen nichts als einen Rucksack, ein Pappschild und Erinnerungen, die ihnen den Schlaf rauben. Das Schweigen um ihr Opfer. Seit Jahren arbeite ich mit Veteranen in ganz New York City – ich höre ihren Geschichten zu, unterstütze sie beim Übergang ins zivile Leben und erlebe hautnah mit, wie viele durch die Maschen eines Systems fallen, das ihnen Schutz versprochen hat. Was ich gesehen habe, ist herzzerreißend. Manche kämpfen mit unbehandelter PTBS. Manche mit Sucht. Manche sahen einfach keinen Ausweg mehr. Doch fast alle teilen das Gefühl der Unsichtbarkeit – den Glauben, dass sie einmal gebraucht, einmal bejubelt, einmal geehrt wurden … und dann im Stich gelassen wurden. Diese Realität ist keine Statistik; Es ist eine Wunde. Eine nationale Wunde. Warum diese Serie existiert: Diese Fotoserie wurde mit einem einzigen Ziel geschaffen: den Veteranen, die Amerika vergessen hat, eine Stimme, Würde und Sichtbarkeit zu verleihen. Durch unverfälschte Bilder, authentische Begegnungen auf der Straße und ehrliche Gespräche fangen diese Porträts mehr als nur Obdachlosigkeit ein – sie fangen Menschlichkeit, Schmerz, Widerstandskraft und die Wahrheit ein, vor der wir oft wegschauen. Diese Männer und Frauen haben sich für unser Land an vorderster Front eingesetzt. Warum schlafen sie dann jetzt auf den Treppen von Bahnhöfen? Sie haben sich freiwillig zum Dienst gemeldet. Sie haben Wache gehalten, während wir schliefen. Sie trugen Lasten, die die meisten Amerikaner nie verstehen werden. Und doch tragen sie heute Schilder mit der flehentlichen Aufschrift: „Veteran. Hungernd. Bitte helfen Sie.“ Wie konnten wir das zulassen? Wir haben sie nicht nur aus den Augen verloren – wir haben sie im Stich gelassen. Diese Serie konfrontiert uns mit einer schmerzhaften Realität: Die Vereinigten Staaten haben ihre Veteranen nicht einfach nur im Stich gelassen. Wir haben sie im Stich gelassen. Wir haben sie bejubelt, als sie in den Einsatz gingen, ihnen gedankt, als sie zurückkehrten, und sie dann mit Trauma, Bürokratie, Armut und Isolation allein gelassen. Dieses Projekt weigert sich, zu diesem Versagen zu schweigen. Jedes Foto ist ein Spiegelbild unserer Gesellschaft. Jedes Bild stellt eine Frage, die wir alle beantworten müssen: Wenn sie bereit waren, für uns zu sterben, warum sind wir dann nicht bereit, für sie zu kämpfen? Kunst mit Sinn: Fotografie hat die Kraft, Gleichgültigkeit aufzurütteln. Sie kann Empörung, Mitgefühl und Handeln entfachen. Ich hoffe, dass diese Serie ein Katalysator wird – nicht nur für mehr Bewusstsein, sondern für Veränderung. Ich möchte, dass die Menschen sehen, was ich sehe. Dass sie fühlen, was diese Veteranen fühlen. Dass sie verstehen, dass hinter jedem Gesicht eine Geschichte steckt, die es wert ist, gehört zu werden, und ein Leben, das es wert ist, gerettet zu werden. Obdachlosigkeit unter Veteranen sollte nicht existieren. Nicht in der mächtigsten Nation der Welt. Nicht, wo diese Männer und Frauen bereits mehr als genug geopfert haben. Der Aufruf zum Handeln: Dieser Blog und diese Serie sind nicht nur Kunst – sie sind ein Aufruf zur Verantwortung. Unterstützen Sie die Unterkünfte. Kontaktieren Sie Ihre Abgeordneten. „Unsichtbare Grenzen“ ist ein mutiges und kompromissloses visuelles Projekt des Fotografen Michael Morgan von Mayhem Studios. Es soll die menschlichen Kosten von ICE-Razzien und den zunehmenden Angriff auf grundlegende Menschenrechte in Einwanderergemeinschaften aufzeigen. Diese Serie wird kontrovers sein. Und das soll sie auch. Mit rohen, ungefilterten Bildern, die in Echtzeit aufgenommen wurden, dokumentiert das Projekt die Angst, die Vertreibung und den Herzschmerz, die Familien erleben, wenn die Einwanderungsbehörden ihr Leben zerstören. Diese Fotografien sind nicht gestellt, beschönigt oder verharmlost – sie enthüllen die Wahrheit, die allzu oft unsichtbar, ungehört und ignoriert wird. Im Kern geht es bei „Unsichtbare Grenzen“ nicht nur um die Maßnahmen der Einwanderungsbehörden. Es geht um Menschen: die Mütter, die ihre Kinder schützen, die Arbeiter, die aus ihren Häusern gerissen wurden, die Gemeinschaften, die in ständiger Unsicherheit leben. Es geht darum, die Öffentlichkeit daran zu erinnern, dass jede Razzia eine bleibende Narbe hinterlässt und jedes betroffene Leben Würde verdient. Meine Absicht ist einfach: Fotografie als Werkzeug für Bewusstsein, Verantwortlichkeit und Veränderung. Durch die Dokumentation dieser Momente will das Projekt bestehende Wahrnehmungen hinterfragen, Empathie wecken und die Gesellschaft dazu anregen, sich mit den moralischen und rechtlichen Konsequenzen dieser Handlungen auseinanderzusetzen. Es besteht die Hoffnung, dass diese Bilder einen Dialog anstoßen, zum Engagement motivieren und Entscheidungsträger dazu inspirieren, die politischen Maßnahmen zu überdenken, die Leben prägen – und manchmal zerstören. Diese Arbeit mag unbequem sein. Sie mag starke Emotionen und schwierige Gespräche auslösen. Aber genau deshalb ist sie notwendig.

Im Mai 2020 schliefen 59.308 Obdachlose, darunter 13.523 obdachlose Familien mit 20.044 obdachlosen Kindern, jede Nacht im städtischen Schutzsystem von New York City. Familien machen mehr als zwei Drittel der Obdachlosenbevölkerung aus. Dieses Projekt beleuchtet Menschen, an denen wir jeden Tag vorbeikommen und die uns stillschweigend unsichtbar erscheinen. Warum? Wie sind sie hierher gekommen? Was ist ihre Geschichte? Es ist auch ein Teil unserer Geschichte. Eine Ausstellung zur Unterstützung der Obdachlosen ist in Arbeit. As part of the Mayhem Studios roster, selected talent will be expected to uphold the following responsibilities to maintain professionalism, consistency, and readiness for upcoming opportunities.
📸 1. Participate in Scheduled Photoshoots
- Attend test shoots, creative sessions, and portfolio updates
- Arrive on time and ready (basic grooming, clean appearance)
- Follow posing direction and collaborate with the photographer and creative team
- Maintain a respectful, positive attitude on set and during communications
- Conduct yourself professionally when interacting with clients, stylists, and collaborators
- Uphold the studio’s values of inclusivity, creativity, and respect
- Keep measurements, contact info, portfolio images, and social media links current
- Submit updated photos as your look changes (hair, weight, style, etc.)
- Respond to emails or messages promptly
- Participate in virtual or in-person interviews
- Attend portfolio planning or concept meetings when scheduled
- Communicate availability and scheduling needs in advance
- Work with the photographer to bring concepts to life
- Be open to trying new styles, themes, and looks depending on the shoot
- Contribute creative ideas when invited
- Share studio-approved images on social platforms (credits included)
- Support studio visibility by tagging or acknowledging Mayhem Studios when posting collaborative work
- Maintain a professional online presence that reflects positively on you and the studio
- Practice posing, expression, runway (if applicable), and on-camera presence
- Accept constructive feedback and apply it during future sessions
- Continue building your portfolio and professional identity
- Provide biography details, images, and measurements for your website profile
- Update your talent page as needed
- Notify the studio of agency representation or major career changes

🔒 10. Maintain Confidentiality When Required
- Respect confidentiality around unreleased photos, campaigns, or creative ideas
- Do not publish or share images until the studio grants approval

Mayhem Studios NY is expanding its creative team for 2026 and is seeking a talented, reliable, and imaginative Graphic Artist to support branding, marketing, editorial projects, social media assets, model development materials, and visual creative concepts.
We are looking for someone who blends artistry with precision, who sees every design as a story waiting to be told. If you thrive in a collaborative, fast-moving creative environment, this role is for you.
Candidates must meet the following:
Experience
- Minimum 2–3 years of graphic design experience (freelance or studio)
- Strong portfolio demonstrating branding, layout, typography, and digital design
- Experience working with creative teams or photographers preferred
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
- Knowledge of Canva, Figma, or other modern design tools (preferred but not required)
- Strong understanding of color, layout, composition, and brand identity
- Ability to take creative direction and produce polished final work
- Reliable, communicative, and responsive
- Capable of meeting deadlines and managing project timelines
- Ability to work independently or collaboratively
- Attention to detail and pride in craftsmanship
- Experience in fashion, beauty, or entertainment branding
- Ability to create motion graphics or short animated visuals
- Knowledge of print production, packaging, or merchandise design
- Experience designing pitch decks, portfolios, or presentation templates

The Graphic Artist (Contract) will be responsible for:
Design & Creative Execution
- Creating digital and print graphics for marketing, campaigns, and talent development
- Designing logos, promotional materials, flyers, banners, and visual branding assets
- Producing website graphics, portfolio layouts, and social media visuals
- Preparing polished, high-resolution assets for both online and print production
- Collaborating with photographer and creative director (Michael Morgan) on concept art
- Designing comp cards, model profiles, pitch decks, and casting materials
- Contributing to Project Teen Team educational materials and presentations
- Supporting special projects, editorial layouts, and merchandise concepts
- Maintaining brand consistency across all design outputs
- Managing file organization, delivery, and versioning
- Editing and preparing images, typography, and graphic elements
- Meeting deadlines for multi-stage or fast-turnaround assignments
Visagistin/Stylistin (auf Vertragsbasis)
We’re looking for someone who understands the power of transformation, who can sculpt mood and story with brushes, palettes, and styling finesse. If you thrive in a fast-paced creative environment and love collaborative artistry, this position is for you.
Experience
- Minimum 2 years professional experience in makeup artistry and/or styling
- Strong portfolio showing versatility across natural, glam, editorial, and creative looks
- Experience working on photoshoots, runway, film, or commercial sets preferred
- Proficiency in modern makeup techniques: complexion work, contouring, highlighting, corrective approaches
- Ability to adapt makeup for different skin tones & lighting setups
- Basic to advanced hair styling abilities (depending on your specialty)
- Optional but valuable: wardrobe styling experience
- Reliable, punctual, organized
- Ability to perform under time constraints
- Creative, adaptable, and collaborative
- Excellent communication and strong client-friendly demeanor
On-Set Makeup & Styling
- Provide professional makeup application for models and talent
- Create looks ranging from natural/light grooming to editorial, glam, avant-garde, and character-based themes
- Assist with hair styling (basic to intermediate, depending on skill level)
- Perform touch-ups and adjustments throughout the shoot
- Ensure continuity across multiple looks or scenes
- Work directly with photographer Michael Morgan to bring visual concepts to life
- Interpret mood boards, creative briefs, and brand aesthetics
- Offer creative input when developing looks for editorial or themed shoots
- Assist with outfit selection, adjustments, steaming, and preparation
- Style models for fashion, lifestyle, and branding shoots
- Ensure wardrobe and accessories are clean, properly fitted, and camera-ready
- Maintain hygiene standards for makeup tools and products
- Manage time efficiently to meet shoot schedules
- Communicate clearly with the team regarding needs and adjustments
- Bring a positive, collaborative presence to the set

From 2018 to 2023, we trained and inspired dozens of students before pausing due to my medical challenges. Now, fully recovered, I’m relaunching the program in March 2026 — and I need your help.
Your contribution will put cameras back in students’ hands and empower the next generation of artists, storytellers, and leaders.
What We Need & What You Get
We are seeking $20,000 to restart Project Teen Team in 2026.
Where the funds go:
$10,000 – Cameras, lenses, lighting, editing software
$5,000 – Program costs: studio rentals, transportation, exhibition space
$3,000 – Guest instructors, mentors, workshop leaders
$2,000 – Administrative costs to sustain the program
If we don’t reach the full goal, every dollar will still go toward cameras, classes, and student resources so the program launches on schedule.
